KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Construction continues Monday at Union Station, but officials want to remind residents and visitors that they're still open.

Crews are expected to begin putting up fencing in different locations around the building Monday, but Union Station officials say visitor parking and guest entrances will remain fully open as construction continues.

The overall construction plan, which is one of the largest construction projects at the building since it was renovated and reopened in 1999,  includes more green space, a bridge near Pershing Road and an outdoor festival area for a new Science City exhibit and other events.

Private donations and state tax credits helped fund the project.

The entire project is expected to be finished by sometime next year.
