SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Royals have invaded Surprise, Ariz., for Spring Training and FOX 4's Al Wallace is taking you around the grounds of the training complex to get to know the area and people, including Surprise Mayor Sharon Walcott and her adorable dog, Riley.

Walcott moved to Surprise from Minnesota for retirement in 2012, but when she realized she didn't like retirement she got involved with politics and eventually became the mayor.

"Came with her daughter and said, 'I'd be surprised if it ever amounted to anything,' and that's how we got our name," Walcott said.

Walcott told FOX 4 that she is considering  her Yorkshire Terrier, Riley, "Royal" during Spring Training in honor of the Royals' World Series win.

Royals pitchers and catchers reported to Surprise on Thursday and begin workouts Friday.
