PHOENIX — Five people are dead including a gunman after a shooting and two house fires in Phoenix, according to a report from KTVK.

Police Sgt. Trent Crump says four of the five killed in Tuesday morning’s violence were adults. A girl, 10-12-years old, was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died from her injuries.

Crump declined to release names or specify the relationships of the individuals involved, but he said they were a family a five and that the shooter was the brother or son of the victims.

“Officers were getting shot at from the second floor of the home while they were trying to extinguish the fire and extract people from the house,” Crump told KTVK.

A Fire Department spokeswoman says the shooter set the house on fire.

One officer was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
