LENEXA, Kan. -- Several cars were hit during a police chase, leading to a traffic nightmare in Johnson County on Wednesday afternoon. Closed lanes at 91st and Quivira have since reopened, and two women suspected of causing the chase are in custody.

Police tell FOX 4 the chase started in Kansas City, Mo., and ended in Lenexa at about 4 p.m.

Police say the two women in a white pickup truck led Kansas City police on a chase. Right now, cops say they don`t know why the women were fleeing from police.

Investigators say the female driver crossed the state line, eventually hitting between five and 10 vehicles on the Quivira bridge over Interstate 35. Police say the innocent people in those vehicles weren`t hurt.

They say the fleeing driver and her accomplice didn`t stop until they crashed into a vehicle, but it didn’t end there.

FOX 4 is told that the driver jumped out of the banged up pickup truck, told another driver she had a gun during an unsuccessful carjacking attempt, and was eventually caught.

The passenger was treated at the scene and arrested. The driver complained that she was hurt, and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
