INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Police said charges are pending after an infant was found badly burned. They said they were called to South Leroy Street in Independence on Saturday for a medical emergency.

Sources close to the investigation told FOX 4 a babysitter was watching the 4-month-old baby who suffered the burns. They told FOX 4 when first responders arrived, the baby's face was pale and his legs were red, swollen and starting to blister.

Neighbors said they saw a large amount of police activity outside their apartment complex on Saturday afternoon. Sources told FOX 4 the infant appeared to have just been removed from a tub of water.
