OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A woman claims she was robbed at gunpoint while in her motel room in Overland Park, Kan., early Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Gary Mason told FOX 4 that around 2 a.m., the suspect knocked on the victim's door at the Motel 6 at 108th and Metcalf. The victim told police that she thought it was someone she knew, so she opened the door.

The victim told police that the suspect then pushed his way into her motel room. The suspect demanded that the woman hand over her cellphone, wallet and cash, which she did. The woman says the man was armed with a handgun.

Police say the woman was not hurt, but she was shaken up.

Police have a vague description of the robber but they're hoping that surveillance video from the motel will give them a better look at the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white man wearing a black hoodie, about 6 feet tall and armed with a handgun.

Sgt. Mason said the woman did the right thing by handing over what the suspect asked for.

Anyone with information about the case or the suspect is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
