KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Every year, the group Bikers Against Child Abuse gets together and releases a balloon in honor of each child who has died from abuse or neglect. On Friday, April 1, the Kansas City chapter joined FOX 4's Mark Alford on the front for the ceremonial balloon release.

"Our job is to empower abused children, and we're there as a support system for them," KC Chapter President Thrasher said. "When it comes times for them to go to court and other functions as far as the abuse part, we actually are there with them at all times."

The hope is that one day the group will not have to release any balloons.
