KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A lengthy high speed car chase ended Wednesday in the 4300 block of Jackson in Kansas City, Mo., shortly before 11 a.m.

Police took the suspect into custody after he bailed out of his blue Ford truck in a residential neighborhood.

Police said the chase began near Interstate 435 and 23rd Street and lasted about 30 minutes before the suspect crashed at a parking lot and fled on foot near Urban Christian Academy Elementary School. Police said no one at the school was affected.

Officers said the man was wanted on outstanding warrants, but did not specify the exact nature of those warrants. When they attempted to pull him over, he sped off.

Investigators said they found several guns in the man's truck.

I've never seen anything like it in my life. I just saw police cars, police cars, police cars just coming and coming and coming, and I was recording it on my phone and I was like, 'it's still going! Why is it still going?'" one witness said.

"It was crazy! It was just like a movie scene," another witness recalled.

The suspect is now held in the Jackson County jail.
