Driver accused in high-speed chase that crossed state line charged with assaulting a police officer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A woman now faces charges in a high-speed chase that ended outside of Argosy Casino on Wednesday.

Jodi Smith is charged with assaulting a police officer, along with felony fleeing and resisting.

Smith is accused of leading law enforcement officers on a wild chase from Independence, through KCMO and KCK, finally stopping in Riverside where she was arrested at the casino.

A male passenger inside the car will not face any charges.

Smith is being held on a $50,000 bond, and is ordered not to drive if she posts it. Online records don’t show any future court dates for her yet.
