PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. — It’s been said that there’s no such thing as bad press. Well, here’s one lawyer who might beg to differ.

Florida attorney David Maloney has made a name for himself as a successful personal injury lawyer in Florida.

His slick TV commercials show his hard line against drunk drivers, saying in one commercial, “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you drink and you drive, and you hurt someone, don’t call me. I’m not gonna represent you. I’m not gonna help you. If anything, I’m going to be the lawyer going after you.”

His commercials purport that he strikes fear into the hearts of potential drunk drivers, saying, “Drivers hide their drinks when he walks by, out of fear or respect.”

Maloney won’t be representing himself then, because the no-nonsense attorney was arrested early Sunday for driving under the influence, Florida’s WKRG reported.

Police pulled Maloney over for speeding in a 35 MPH zone in Pensacola Beach around 2 a.m. after he had a few too many and got behind the wheel of his Lamborghini.

Maloney has railed against drunk drivers on his law firm’s website.

“We aggressively pursue cases against irresponsible drunk drivers and the bars, restaurants and social hosts who serve alcohol to already intoxicated patrons or minors. Drunk drivers choose to be irresponsible,” the site says.

Fortunately, he didn’t injure anyone. Maloney was released from the Escambia County Jail on $500 bond.
