KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A car crashed into a building and left a gaping hole in front side of the building early Monday morning.

According to police the driver was headed westbound on 79th Street just after 4 a.m., and because of the wet pavement the driver could not stop. His red sedan crashed into the building.

He and a female passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.  The car had to be towed.

It doesn't appear that the driver will face any charges.

No one was inside the building at the time of the crash.   It was originally a bowling alley and soon to be the home of the Academy for Integrated Arts.
