KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Over the past 20 years, the Fire Foundation has granted nearly $3-million to help children with special needs go to school alongside their siblings and friends. The Fire Foundation aims to ignite inclusive learning opportunities.

In June, the Fire Foundation will host a charity event called Purses with a Purpose to benefit the organization.

Honorary chair and “purse-onality" for the event, Melanie Knopke, along with Fire's executive director, Lynn Hire, visited FOX 4 to talk about how the organization and event benefits children in the metro and how people can get involved.
