EAGLE POINT, Ore. — One would-be bicycle thief found himself in a bind when his getaway was thwarted by one vigilante on horseback. The mounted bystander happened to have his trusty lasso, and this was not his first rodeo.

A man attempted to steal a bike in front of  a Walmart in Oregon on Friday morning, KTVL reported. The man allegedly grabbed the bike off the rack in plain view of the bicycle’s owner, and then tried to get the heck outta Dodge.

The owner tried to chase the man along with several other bystanders. Unfortunately for this outlaw, a man on horseback was nearby and ran the thief down, roped him up, and kept him wrangled until the police arrived.

Officer Chris Adams of Eagle Point Police said that after the arrest, the rider asked, “Can I have my rope back? I’ve gotta go.”

The man was arrested and booked on suspicion of theft, at which point the lasso-wielding buckaroo presumably tipped his hat and rode off into the sunset.
