WICHITA, Kan. — A three-year-old Kansas girl drowned in an above ground pool at her daycare provider’s home in Wichita on Thursday, KWCH reports.

KWCH reports that the child was playing in the backyard with a five-year-old and somehow managed to climb into the pool, which is about 4 feet high,  at a home in the 1400 block of S. Sedgwick. When the babysitter found the three-year-old, she was not breathing.

The babysitter called 911 and responding paramedics tried to revive the child but were not successful, KWCH reports. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

KWCH reports family members identified the girl as Danika Anne-Marie Warstler.

Pastor Samuel Resendez told KWCH that he goes to church with the woman who was babysitting the three-year-old and says the situation is more a friend watching her friends’ kids than a traditional daycare.

KWCH reports the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
