LIBERTY, Mo. -- Hundreds came out to watch a dance performance in honor of fallen firefighters Larry Leggio and John Mesh on Saturday night at Liberty North High School.

The two firefighters were killed last October during a building collapse while trying to put out a building fire near Independence Avenue.

Leggio's niece, Marissa, came up with the idea for the tribute performance. She dances with Melroe's School of Dance in Liberty.

"I want to say how proud I am of my daughter. It was obviously very moving, a very beautiful tribute to my brother Larry and John Mesh so we are all very emotional and touched by it," said Joe Leggio, Larry's brother.

Saturday would have been Leggio's birthday. His fire jacket, boots and helmet were on stage during the performance. Pictures of Leggio and Mesh played on a screen in the background.
