KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Two people are dead and two more were injured when a vehicle ran off an overpass, falling onto the street below.

The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday on the Interstate 435 overpass over Gregory Boulevard.

Police said a red Chevrolet Camaro was heading northbound on I-435 when the driver lost control and ran off the overpass.

Police identified the driver as 22-year-old Caleb M. Lugano of Overland Park, Kan., and a back seat passenger identified as Tu'iemanu Ripley, 21, of Warrensburg, Mo. Lugano and Ripley reportedly died at the scene.

Two other passengers were injured. A 23-year-old Warrensburg, Mo. woman is listed in critical condition. A 22-year-old Warrensburg, Mo. woman was reported to be in stable condition at an area hospital.

The University of Central Missouri confirmed that three of the victims were students there.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. FOX 4 will have more as details emerge.
