What is the Keto diet and what can one eat on it?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --  As part of FOX 4's Summer Slimdown series, Loren Halifax is looking at different things people in the health and fitness industry are doing to try to shred some unwanted pounds.

On Wednesday, July 20, trainer Liz Kampschroeder visited FOX 4 to explain the high fat diet, also known as the keto diet. In the video above Kampschroeder explain what it is, and how it works. She also explains foods those trying the diet can enjoy.

In the video below, Kampschroeder explains how to make two recipes that can be enjoyed on the diet.

Lemon Fat Bombs:  From

  • 7.1oz coconut butter
  • 1/4c. coconut oil
  • Fresh lemon zest from 1-2 lemons or 1-2tsp lemon extract
  • 15-20 drops liquid stevia (clear, lemon, or coconut)
  • Optional: pinch salt

o   Combine all ingredients and pour into silicone molds, place in fridge or freezer til solid

o   Keep refrigerated

Chocolate Fat Bombs:  From

  • 4oz dark chocolate
  • 1 oz cocoa butter
  • 1tsp vanilla powder
  • 20 drops stevia
  • 1/3c. any nut butter
  • 2oz coconut butter
  • Optional:  pinch salt

o   Melt chocolate, add cocoa butter, remaining ingredients.  Mix well and pour into molds.  Refrigerate or freeze
