LEAWOOD, Kan. -- A lemonade stand in Leawood, Kan., raised hundreds of dollars over the weekend to help support local officers.

Each cup cost 50-cents, but the girls said lemonade was free for officers. However, the officers insisted on paying.

In total, the girls raised $750.

The girls even had a special customer at their stand on Saturday. Larry Melton, brother of KCK police Captain Dave Melton, stopped by. Capt. Melton was killed July 19 when a suspect opened fire on him as he tried to avoid arrest.

The mother of the girls says Larry brought each girl a set of captain`s bars, that Melton would have worn on his uniform.
