Suspicious package found outside KC city hall appears to have contained camera equipment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A suspicious package found outside of Kansas City's city hall early Monday morning has been rendered safe, police say.

Kansas City police had the area around city hall blocked off with police tape for nearly three hours after a suspicious package was found outside the south side of city hall around 3:40 a.m.

The package was described as a black box with a hard case.

Bomb and Arson units rendered the box safe around 6:15 a.m.

Police say the box appeared to contain a tripod and camera equipment.
