Cat named ‘Baby’ attacks 7 pit bulls, sending one to vet and owner to ER
VICTORIA, British Columbia — A frisky feline named Baby took on seven — yes, seven — pit bulls after one of them showed a friendly interest in her.
This happened in Victoria, British Columbia, when a group of women walking the dogs strolled by the front lawn of the house the 10-pound cat has called home for almost 16 years.
“She’s kind of a slow-sort-of-thinking cat, but one thing is she is very protective of me,” Baby’s owner, 78-year-old Betty Jean Thompson, told the Times Colonist.
The sight of seven dogs ambling through her ‘hood set Baby off.
“The dogs were walking by, completely minding their own business,” Kyla Grover told the newspaper.
“The cat just goes at all of the dogs, not backing down.”
Grover was out with a walking group called Pit Bulls of Victoria B.C., when it happened.
“The cat is swiping at them and latched onto one of the dog’s faces,” Grover told the Victoria Times Colonist. “I got bit and scratched in the process of trying to separate them.”
One of the dogs and its owner were scratched up enough that they went to the hospital for treatment.
“Usually you don’t get seven dogs walking. It’s pretty intimidating, even if you were a pedestrian on the sidewalk pushing a stroller or something,” Del Thompson told CNN affiliate CITV.
The Thompsons paid the $222 vet bill for the maimed dog’s facial injuries.
“I spent the whole night at emergency because cat bites are nasty.”
