Officer calls for backup but no one shows up so inmate steps in to help

STILLWATER, Okla. – An inmate recently helped rescue an Oklahoma detention officer who was being attacked by another inmate the Stillwater News Press reports.

According to the report, Tashka Robert Frank Maret, 24, was inside a booking cell when he asked a detention officer if he could go to the bathroom. When the officer opened Maret’s cell, the inmate began allegedly attacking the officer.

The Stillwater News Press reports another inmate who was waiting to be released from custody, stepped in to help the officer wrestle the inmate to the ground.

Maret is now facing charges for assault and battery against a police officer and could face five years in prison if convicted.
