Head for the Cure hopes to raise $500,000 for brain cancer research this weekend

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A few hundred people raised a few thousand dollars for brain cancer research in the first ever Head for the Cure race 14-years ago, and since then it has raised $6-million for brain cancer research.

Matt Anthony, founder and president of Head for the Cure foundation, and Dr. Michael Salacz from KU's Cancer Center visited FOX 4 on Thursday, Aug. 25 ahead of Sunday's race to chat more about the foundation that has grown to 19 cities and is making major inroads in treatment for brain tumors.

The Head for the Cure 5K is Sunday, Aug. 28 at 8 a.m.,  Corporate Woods in Overland Park. The goal is to raise $500,000. The foundation is also hosting an expo at the Overland Park Convention Center Saturday, Aug. 27.
