Kansas City teenager seriously wounded in shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A shooting in the area of 35th and Wayne on Thursday night sent a 13-year-old boy to the hospital with serious injuries. The shooting happened around 6 p.m. according to police where the boy was found on a porch with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Witnesses said he was on the porch when shot, currently investigators are trying to figure out if shots came from inside the home, on the porch or elsewhere.

Police have also stated the boy is 12 in a news release, but family insists to FOX 4 that he's 13.

No suspect information has been provided, nor an arrest announced yet. While someone was seen in handcuffs at the scene, it was unclear Thursday night if it was related to the shooting.
