OLATHE, Kan. -- Southbound I-35 is down one lane at Sante Fe in Olathe, Kan., Thursday morning.

FOX 4's Nick Vasos reports the backup is a result of crews starting a pavement marking project at midnight. The project runs along southbound I-35 from 127th to Santa Fe.

As of 7:47 a.m., traffic was backed up to I-435 and causing more than a 30-minute delay for drivers.

The closure affects anyone headed to Olathe or Gardner.

KDot says they will be working on the project until 6 p.m., Thursday.
