Mission man dragged while trying to stop car thief

MISSION, Kan. — A Mission, Kan., man is expected to be okay after he was dragged early Thursday morning while trying to stop a thief from stealing his car.

Police say at 4:29 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 6900 block of W. 51st Place on a report of an auto theft.

The victim told police that someone had stolen his 1996 Acura.

According to the victim, he heard his vehicle starting and woke up. He then looked out the window and saw someone attempting to steal his car.

The 22-year-old man confronted the suspect in the parking lot. As the victim tried to stop the suspect, the suspect began to drive away and ended up dragging the victim 25-feet.

Police later found the victim’s vehicle abandoned.

The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.
