Children of CHERI BLAND

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A mother of five killed in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon was remembered Thursday in a rally calling for an end to domestic violence and all violence.

Cheri Bland was murdered inside 7th Heaven at 75th and Troost.  Bland’s family said the man who shot her is the father of one of her children. They said he had been harassing her lately. Two days before she was murdered Bland’s attorney said she filed a restraining order, which they claim set him off.

“I don’t know why he would do that to her, to hurt her like that? She got four kids and one of the kids is by him anyway. Why would he shoot her like that?” Cheri’s mother Andrea Walker said.

No one else was injured in this shooting.

“Her life mattered to her five children, to her parents, to her siblings, to her friends, her aunts, uncles, cousins,” said Stacy Shaw, attorney.
