Earthquake In Kansas City

No it wasn’t your imagination…a 5.6 earthquake centered in Pawnee, OK about 200 miles SW of KC was felt throughout most of the Midwest including the KC region. So far there are no reports of significant damage locally. There are some indications of minor structural damage in OK. This earthquake tied the strongest on record in OK. The previous 5.6 earthquake there occurred on November 6th, 2011. This earthquake occurred about 4 miles underneath the surface. It is what we refer to as a “shallow” earthquake and those earthquakes tend to be felt across large areas.
