Police search home in Kansas City after woman flees armed intruder

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are searching for a suspect after a woman said she had to flee her home while an armed intruder kicked in her door and fired at least one shot.

Officers were called to the 4400 block of Montgall in Kansas City around 6:20 a.m. Sunday. A woman living in the home said she fled while the suspect kicked in her door. She said she heard at least one shot fired.

The resident told police she thought the suspect was still in her home. Police blocked off the area while negotiators arrived on scene.

Officers eventually searched the home around 10:15 a.m. and found the suspect was not there.
