Independence officer on motorcycle injured in crash with SUV at 42nd & Noland

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- An Independence police officer on a motorcycle was injured after being involved in an accident Monday.

First responders were dispatched just after noon to 42nd and Noland Road upon hearing reports of the crash.

FOX 4's Sean McDowell was at the scene and spoke with Independence police, who said the officer somehow collided with a Honda 4-door crossover vehicle.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the accident. That officer has been transported to an area hospital.

A spokesperson for Independence police said the officer is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
