Roeland Park man dies in crash while driver tries to flee police in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Kan. — A Roeland Park man died in a crash in Franklin County early Thursday morning.

Police say  around 1:08 a.m., a vehicle was driving east on K-68  trying to flee police. The driver lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle rolled.

Mario Calderon-Orozco, 29, was not wearing a seat belt and died in the crash. Calderon-Orozco was not driving. A second passenger was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries.

According to police, five people were in the vehicle.
