KCK police identify man fatally shot at 43rd & State Ave

Police tape blocks off a section of the parking lot where a fatal shooting occurred on Monday in Kansas City, Kan.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police are investigating a homicide that happened near 43rd Street and State Avenue in KCK, according to Police Chief Terry Zeigler.

Chief Zeigler tweeted out just after 2:30 p.m. Monday that officers were on scene of a shooting, adding that the investigation is being handled as a homicide.

The shooting occurred near Viva Fashion Mart, formerly the location of a Price Chopper.

FOX 4 spoke with a family member of 21-year-old Clarence Buford, the victim, who said Buford was with his girlfriend when he was killed.

Police have not released any details on the suspect, but are talking with witnesses.

This death is the KCK’s 31st homicide.
