MISSION, Kan. — The city of Mission is hiring a contractor to fix a storm water pipe that broke during heavy rains in August. The pipeline break has now created a sinkhole inside the backyards of some nearby homes.

The city has put up a temporary fence around the sinkhole until the pipeline can be fixed, but as of Sept. 26, there was no timetable on when the repairs will be made.

One homeowner is worried the sinkhole will swallow her storage shed and she’s hoping the city will definitely make repairs before the hole consumes even more of her yard.
