After loud boom, daughter finds mother in her bedroom, shot to death in KC home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating a homicide on Thursday night after a woman was found shot to death.

Investigators were called to the home in the 400 block of Booth Avenue just before 10 p.m.

FOX 4’s Robert Townsend spoke to the daughter of Rene Austin, 60, who said it was her mother who was killed. She says she and her mom were asleep in their bedrooms when she heard a loud pop. She went to her mom’s room and found her shot in the back and face. She said there were at least two bullet holes in the wall of the bedroom.

According to the daughter, Austin has six grandchildren. Her birthday is next month.
