KC man, 21, charged with murder after Leavenworth university basketball player killed

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Prosecutors filed charges against a 21-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man on Monday for his alleged connection with a murder.

Damon M. Hammons was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Kansas City police issued an alert Saturday that they were looking for Hammons. Police said they thought he had information regarding a homicide in the 4000 block of East 56th Terrace.

Friends say the victim is Marcus Mondaine. Mondaine played basketball at University of Saint Mary, 4100 South 4th Street, in Leavenworth.
