Two people killed in overnight shootings in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police are investigating two overnight homicides.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired near Mill Street and Southwest Trafficway in Westport around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, they found one man who had been shot.

That victim was transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police identified the victim as 25-year-old Derrick Jones, of Kansas City, Mo.

Police responded to another shooting near 57th Street and Michigan around 2 a.m. Sunday.

There they discovered a man who had been shot. He was also transported to a hospital, but died of his injuries.

Police identified this victim as 41-year-old Charles Bradford, of Kansas City, Mo.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.
