KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An officer is recovering from non-life threatening injuries received while trying to recover a stolen car on Monday. One witness said the officer was dragged.

FOX 4 is working to learn more details from police about this incident. A police spokeswoman said officers were trying to take a subject of interest into custody, who was in a stolen car, when the officer was injured.

The incident happened at an America’s Best Value Inn in the south part of the city. A witness says the driver refused to stop, briefly dragging one of the officers. The witness said he’s glad the driver is in custody.

“It was not exciting, but it was like, at least they’re getting the bad guys off the streets because that’s a stolen car and they just went over there and got another stolen car,” said a witness who wanted to remain anonymous. Officers were on the scene for much of the night.

A white car with a front end dent was towed away about 8 p.m.
