KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Is "Star Trek Beyond" worth the journey?" How about "Anthropoid," "Bad Moms" and "Sea of Trees?" FOX 4's Russ Simmons and Shawn Edwards share their thoughts in this week's Popcorn Bag Home Video Reviews!

1) STAR TREK BEYOND (PG-13)

Paramount Pictures

RUSS

"Fast and Furious" director Justin Lin helps the "Star Trek" franchise live long and prosper. He's brought his action expertise to"Star Trek Beyond" and the result is a zippy, entertaining entry in the series. He even managed to include a motorcycle chase!

SHAWN

The zip that Justin Lin has brought to the franchise. The action all has a purpose and the thrills come at you 100 miles per hour.

RUSS

While the story boldly goes where many "Star Trek" stories have gone before, it delivers just the familiarity that fans want. It's an amusing, self-aware and lively adventure.

SHAWN

Yes, it's a typical Star Trek storyline but plays out more like a Fast and Furious movie which is a very good thing. Loved it.

2) ANTHROPOID (R)

Bleecker Street

RUSS

Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy star in “Anthropoid,” the true WWII story about an attempt to assassinate a top Nazi general in occupied Czechoslovakia. It’s workmanlike, but only comes to life during the harrowing final reel.

SHAWN

This movie should have been incredible. All of the elements were there in place. Great story. Terrific actors. Capable filmmakers. But... It does heat up toward the end.

3) BAD MOMS (R)

STX Entertainment

RUSS

The title tells all in “Bad Moms,” a raunchy, foul-mouthed comedy starring Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell that substitutes vulgarity for wit. Thanks to a game and gifted cast, it generates a few brazen laughs, but not enough for a feature-length movie.

SHAWN

But it is really funny. I laughed a lot. Why you hating on the ladies? It's every bit as funny as any of those Hangover movies.

4) SEA OF TREES (R)

A24

RUSS

What do you get when you combine Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey and acclaimed director Gus Van Sant of “Good Will Hunting” fame? “Sea of Trees” is a well meaning and well acted drama about a suicidal man who contemplates his troubled marriage. But it’s long, meandering and pretentious, perhaps the weakest film of either man’s career.
