Two more people charged in Oct. 2015 murder of KC dad

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two more people have been charged in the deadly shooting and robbery of a 23-year-old aspiring rapper in October 2015 inside an apartment complex at 83rd and Hillcrest.

Rachel Ryce, 28, of Blue Springs and Shawn Burkhalter, 28, of Kansas City, face charges of murder in the 2nd degree, robbery in the 1st degree, and two counts of armed criminal action connected to the shooting death of Anthony Johnson.

Prosecutors requested a $250,000 bond for each.

Johnson, a father and aspiring rapper was gunned down in an apartment complex at 83rd and Hillcrest on Sunday, Oct. 4th. Police got a call about shots fired about 4:30 p.m., but it was a family member who would find the victim in an apartment with an open door hours later.

Johnson had two sons, Julian and Brandon, both two years old at the time of his murder.

Three other people have been charged in the murder: Autry Hines and Nickayla Jones are charged with 2nd degree murder and Joshua Nesbitt faces a 1st degree murder charge.
