KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Friday was opening night at the Crown Center Ice Terrace, but this occasion was much different that the rest. It's the 44th season, but families say this is the first time they've been to the ice rink in comfortable weather.

Weather in the 60's at the Crown Center Ice Terrace made for a perfect Friday night out in the metro. Dozens hit the ice in light jackets. Some say they even broke a sweat, something skaters weren't used to but most aren't complaining

"It's mom and son date night. I like the weather like this, I'm a cold person, its nice to be out here without a jacket on. It's winter time," Jennie Stewart said.

"I don't like it. I'm a cold type of person, it's alright but I'd rather it be cold," Blake Ramsey.

The Crown Center Ice Terrace will be open through March. For more information about operating hours and admission, click on this link.
