1-year-old dies after accidental shooting at KCK Little Caesars

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — FOX 4 has learned that the child shot Friday night inside a vehicle at a Kansas City, Kam. Little Caesars has died.

Police said the 1-year-old boy was critically wounded around 10 p.m. in a Little Caesars pizza shop parking lot near 75th and State Avenue.

Police identified the boy on Saturday as Antoine Rucker Jr.

The boy’s father had gone into the shop to get pizza when the mother came running inside screaming “my baby’s been shot!”

First responders arrived and transported the child to Children’s Mercy hospital. He died of his injuries overnight.

Investigators are now working to determine precisely what happened. They said they do believe the shooting was accidental.

There reportedly was a gun inside the car, as well as the child’s mother and one other person. Police are still working to determine how the gun was fired.
