Drivers swerve to avoid car stalled on highway; but driver dies in fiery crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon at I-435 and Bannister Road.

Police say the adult victim died at the scene.

Witnesses told police that the car was stopped on the highway, but they do not know why. Several cars swerved to miss the stalled vehicle. According to witnesses a driver in a Ford Taurus did not see the stalled Buick and struck the car. It burst into flames.

The driver of the Ford was not hurt.

Police were still filing their report and contacting next of kin.
