Independence man charged in fatal shooting at house party

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Independence man has been charged in the Oct. 30 fatal shooting of Jacobsen L. Laumoli at a home in Independence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Tuesday.

Travon M. Williams, 19, is charged with 2nd degree murder and armed criminal action.

Court records say Williams took a gun belonging to a homeowner at the residence where a party was taking place and fired the weapon at the front door, striking the LaumoliĀ in the back.

Several witnesses saw Williams, who they knew as Trace, fire the shots.

Prosecutors requested a bond of $300,000.
