KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and one injured early Tuesday morning.
Police say the shooting occurred around 12:45 a.m., at the Phillips 66 convenience store near Drury Avenue and Bannister Road.
Responding officers say initially there was no sign that shooting had occurred. Officers say no shooting victims or suspects were on the scene.
After canvassing the area, police found the victim's car had crashed into a fire hydrant down the street. One victim inside the car taken to the hospital later died. Another jumped from the car after it crashed and ran to an apartment for help. That victim was shot in the hip. He is in fair condition.
Police say right after the shooting a silver vehicle was seen fleeing the area.
"Three suspects pulled up in a silver Dodge Charger type vehicle and shot into the victim's vehicle," Kansas City officer Darin Snapp said.
Police identified the deceased victim on Wednesday as 22-year-old Antonio Williams Jr., of Kansas City, Mo.
