KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A police chase that started in Kansas, crossed the state line and ended back in Kansas ended with at least one man in custody on Wednesday night at 24th and Wood.

Police say a driver tried to hit a KCK police officer with a car at 14th and Minnesota. Officers chased the car into KCMO where a cruiser collided with a passenger car near 9th and Prospect.

While the officer had lights and sirens on, the other driver didn’t see them. That driver wasn’t seriously hurt, and both officers are okay.

“You definitely have to strike a delicate balance because you`re trying to keep that vehicle in sight,” said Sergeant Bill Mahoney.

“You`re trying to stay with them, but they don`t care and you do. So in terms of getting away, they have an advantage over you because you have to worry about citizens and their safety and they don`t care. So it`s a tough deal. I think they did a good job.”

The suspect being chased was wanted for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer in KCK. FOX 4 will update this story with any resulting charges as those details are released.
