CENTER VALLEY, Penn. — Caution: Deer X-ing

We often see those signs along the road, but they sure could’ve used one on the route at a recent cross country race in Pennsylvania.

A runner was knocked clear off his feet after takingĀ a demolishing hit from a bounding deer on Saturday during an NCAA regional race at DeSales University.

Justin DeLuzio, a senior at Gwynedd Mercy University, was running an 8K race when at least ten deer shot across a field along the route.

The collision was caught on video.

“Watch out for the deer!” someone yells just moments before DeLuzio was sent tumbling.

Gwynedd’s university athletics site said DeLuzio’s teammate stopped to help him up and ran with him for the remaining four miles to make sure he wasn’t seriously injured.

DeLuzio was certainly sore and had some bruises to show, but overall he was okay.

And he was able to finish with a time of 31 minutes and 16 seconds, which he said he’d never have been able to do without his teammate’s help.
