OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A power outage Sunday evening left over 3,700 KCP&L customers in Overland Park and Merriam without electricity.

KCP&L said they have not yet determined the cause, but a witness said she saw a large flash, followed by an electric pole on fire near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Ikea Way in Merriam, Kan. around 7:30 p.m.

Crews are currently working on the issue, and have said they’ve already restored power to some areas. Full service will likely be restored later Sunday night.
