KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Some good news for downtown commuters, the Grand Boulevard Bridge will soon reopen.

The bridge, which was closed in May after an inspection revealed cracks and missing chunks of concrete, is expected to reopen Friday.

When the bridge reopens, I-670 will also reopen to traffic.

But before crews can reopen the bridge, they must completely close off lanes on eastbound I-670 between I-35 and 71-Highway on the south side of the downtown loop.

Crews will use the time from 9 p.m. Wednesday to shut down those lanes so they can finish the bridge work and remove the cones and other traffic control items.

Drivers can bypass the closure by using I-70 around the north side of the downtown loop.

MoDOT will officially reopen the bridge on Friday following a ribbon cutting ceremony.
