One dead following single-vehicle crash near Oldham and Hillcrest

One person is dead following a single vehicle crash in Swope Park early Monday morning.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning.

Police say the crash happened near Oldham and Hillcrest around 2:40 a.m.

According to police, the driver of a white Range Rover missed a curve and drove straight into a wooded area.

Two people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. A female passenger was wearing her seat belt and transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The male driver was not wearing his seat belt and died at the scene. Police say he was tossed around during the crash.

Police have not yet released the victim’s identity.

Investigators say they believe alcohol may have been involved.

A Kansas City police dispatcher initially told FOX 4 this was a two-vehicle crash, but police have since issued an update that said only one vehicle was involved.
