KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri Mavericks are skating with a purpose the weekend of Dec. 16-17. They're looking to bring hockey and hope this holiday season. The organization's general manager Brent Thiessen says the events are about raising money and awareness for kids in need. Watch the video above to learn more on how you can participate.

Friday, Dec. 16

Childhood Cancer Awareness Night with Braden's Hope and Noah's Bandage Project as the beneficiaries. 10 cancer "heroes" will be on the ice for the puck drop. CCR Roofing is matching the first 1,000 boxes of bandages collected.

Saturday, Dec. 17

Teddy Bear Toss Night! Shadow Buddies Foundation will be set up on the concourse with special edition Buddies in Mavs logo shirts. These will be thrown on the ice along with teddy bears, and then delivered by Mavs players to HCA Hospitals 12/21.
