Suspect in standoff at home in Independence taken into custody

Law enforcement is present at an Independence, Mo., home Friday afternoon and a standoff is underway.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — The suspect in a Friday afternoon standoff  in Independence, Mo., was taken peacefully into custody.

The SWAT Team assisted officers who say a man inside of an apartment pulled a gun on his landlord near Main and Pacific. The landlord was able to get out safely and call 911.

Authorities evacuated all the residents inside the apartment house, and the nearby Messiah Lutheran School was on lockdown.
